Urbas Science Weeks of Dec 20 - Jan 4

Students have completed their investigation of machines with a Lego Practical. Many of the machines they designed were amazing to see. Some will be featured in this column in the future.

We are beginning at the start of the new year our study of the Earth and Earthquakes. Hold on.

Urbas - Science Week of Dec. 17 - 22

Students are finishing their Lego machines unit and this week will design and build a lego machine that will be a performance based assessment. They will be finishing a Lego Car project on Monday with speed and distance being examined.

Urbas Science Week of Dec. 10 - 14

Students are continuing their evaluation of machines and this week will examine Pulleys and Cranes in addition to Gears and Mecahnical Advantage of gear systems.

Car races will be the highlight of Friday.

Urbas Science Week of December 3- 7

Students are continuing their examination of machines using the LEGO kits. This week students will be finishing levers, and starting to work with pulleys and conveyor systems.

Urbas - Science Week of Nov. 26 - 29

Students have begun their investigation of machines using the LEGO kits and this week will examine Structures and Levers. They will build and operate actual machines based on the simple machine unit recently completed.

Students have begun their study of machines using LEGO kits. They will be constructing machines that utilize principles they have been studying.

Urbas Science week of Nov. 12 - 16

Studnets finish their investigation of Newton's three laws of motion and start the unit of LEGO machines by the end of the week.

Students are continuing their study of simple machines and are focusing on pulleys currently. Force will explored as will gravity this week.

On Friday 11/9, ther will be a quiz on levers, pulleys, and mechanical advantage.

Urbas - Science Week of October 8 - 12

Students in Science class this week will be taking a test on Safety, Problem Solving, and Metrics to finish the current unit. The test will be on Friday, 10 / 12.

We are beginning our study of machines which includes work, motion, force, mechanical advantage, and Newton's Laws.

Students will be introduced to the Scientific Method and use it to interpret experiments they are performing. Safety will also be highlighted this week.

Students continue their use of lab equuipment and study of density. This week glassware of various types will be introduced and used. Students will be instructed of care and safety relating to proper lab procedures.

Students are beginning their study of metric units in order to utilize the lab equipment they will come in contact with this school year. They are currently measuring in metric units of length and will move on to volume in liters and mass in grams.
